Speedway Adds Dirt Late Model Race to Sprint Cup Weekend
22 cars. 100 laps. $10,000. One Winner.
HAMPTON,
Ga. (September 12, 2008) - Atlanta Motor Speedway has partnered
with the Fastrak Racing Series to bring upwards of 70 dirt late
models to the asphalt 'Thunder Ring' during the Pep Boys Auto 500
NASCAR Sprint Cup race weekend.
The 100-lap
shootout will happen after Hot Shot NASCAR Sprint Cup Qualifying
on Friday, October 24. As many as 70, 700-horsepower dirt late models
can be expected for the event. Heat races will determine the final
22 cars that will run 100 laps on the asphalt, quarter-mile 'Thunder
Ring' to decide the winner.
Fans can attend
Hot Shot NASCAR Sprint Cup Qualifying and the dirt late model race
on Friday for just $20. In addition, children ages 12 and under
are admitted free of charge with the purchase of an adult ticket.
"We're excited
to add another exciting race to the Pep Boys Auto 500 NASCAR Sprint
Cup weekend," said Atlanta Motor Speedway president and general
manager Ed Clark. "Having 22 cars on our quarter-mile short track
will make for an action-packed event."
In addition
to purchasing tickets to Friday's qualifying, fans with Sunday race
tickets fans can upgrade to a weekend pass that includes tickets
for all three days of the NASCAR Sprint Cup weekend for just $39.
The Atlanta
Motor Speedway ticket office is now offering weekend hours to better
serve race fans who want to purchase to tickets to events at the
speedway. The regular hours for the ticket office are Monday-Friday
8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and now through October 26, the ticket office
will be open on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sundays from
1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
