Silly Boys, Racing is for Girls by Timmy Hutson BRASELTON, Ga. -- While the rain was pounding the 3/8th's mile asphalt last Saturday evening, August 8th, the event was decided to be ran on the following weekends race, in which local favorite Kristen Wallace was a favorite to run well with the crews and fans alike at Lanier National Speedway. Wallace scored her first career victory at LNS competing in the Super Truck division, starting on the pole outside of William Hoose in the #79. When the green flag flew Wallace's #12 truck throttled through the gears and managed to stay to the inside of Hoose, whose truck appeared to be loose through the 25 laps event. On lap 14 her biggest challenge was holding off the dominating Paul Antley in the #45 NAPA Auto Parts Chevrolet. Taking the checkered and also having the honor of leading every lap that ran without a caution flag appearing. In victory lane Wallace said, "The truck was tight, but that was fun! We changed springs before practice, and that is what won us the race.We couldn't get here without the support of our sponsors and crew." Wallace's 'Dream Team' consists of her family, Curt Britt, competitor and friend Paul Antley, Johnnie Danner, and Bobby. Sponsors for the race winning truck are www.kristenwallaceracing.com, NAPA, Curt Britt Motorsports, All-Season Maintenance, and Safety Kleen. The Austin, Texas native, currently residing in Jasper, GA looked forward to taming the boys once again when the second of the evenings 25 lap NASCAR Whelen All-American Challenge Series Weekly Series. Looking ahead to her thoughts of the second event of the evening, and how to get around the tight and challenging mid-banked 3/8th's mile asphalt oval, Wallace said, "be consistent, patient, and drive it like you stole it. The track condition in the afternoon sun was slick, but I know when we get back on the track later tonight the track will get tighter." As feature race #2 two took the green flag, Wallace's #12 truck started in the sixth position, after an inversion from feature race #1. When the green flag flew, the #16 of Matt Vasser and #45 of Paul Antley started on the front row, when contact between the two caused a multi truck incident. Wallace driving out of way of danger made contact with another compotator's truck, causing cosmetic damage. While under caution, to clean the track her speedy crew went to work to get her back out and ready for battle for the 25 lap race. When the green flag waved to start off the race, like a professional took it easy on her equipment and amazingly passed competitors to be in third position when the checkered flag fell. Paul Antley collected the checkered flag. "I want to congratulate her on the win earlier. She always beats me in the practice session. One day soon she will be the one to beat. Awesome job to her and her crew once again," said Antley in victory lane, following race #2.
