NASCAR: Lowes Motor Speedway: All-Star Weekend
Charity wins
with Harvick’s burnout: Kevin Harvick won the Pennzoil Victory Challenge
Saturday afternoon, a competition among seven drivers. Competitors
got 30 seconds to do whatever burnout they wanted so long as they
remained off the wall and infield grass. Harvick did a stationary
burnout for nearly his full allotted time and scored 58 of 60 points
possible, determined by a panel of celebrity judges. The $10,000
for the win will go to Harvick’s favorite charity.
NASCAR Camping
World Truck: Five races into the 2009 season, California native
Matt Crafton (No. 88 Menard’s Chevrolet) finds himself perched fourth
in the standings. Only 94 points behind leader Mike Skinner (No.
5 Toyota), he continues to show he’s just as much a contender as
the former series champions that surround him.
NASCAR Sprint
All-Star Race - Late Charge Gives Stewart All-Star Win: The celebration
everyone knew was coming arrived Saturday night at Lowe’s Motor
Speedway against a background of exploding fireworks. The real pyrotechnics,
however, were reserved for the racetrack. Tony Stewart passed Matt
Kenseth through Turn 2 on Lap 99 of 100 to win the Sprint All-Star
Race, his first victory in the annual non-points event and his first
as an owner/driver.
