Georgia Automobile
Racing Hall of Fame Association (GARHoFA) 2008 Picnic and Racing
Family Reunion
Saturday, May
17th, was a beautiful day in Fayetteville, GA for the GARHoFA Picnic
and Racing Family Reunion. Motorsport America's General Manager
and Chief Photographer, Fred Hanyon and MSA writer, Rocky Sinyard,
attended the event to rub elbows with Georgia Racing Pioneers such
as Gene Felton, Charlie Mincey, and "The Headman" Mike Head.
The event was
held at Minter's Farm which is the home of the Inman Farm Heritage
Days every year. GARHoFA had race and show cars on display along
with pictures, bits and pieces of the great history of racing in
Georgia. Children were entertained with clowns, face painting and
getting to know the animals that live at Minter's Farm.
Jimmy Mosteller
was also on hand to meet and greet racing fans who were spellbound
with his stories of racing in the old days.
Everyone was
treated to a free meal courtesy of Checkered Flag Catering's owner
Gordon Pirkle. Gordon also owns the Dawsonville Pool Room in Dawsonville
- a great place to get a burger and see all the NASCAR memorabilia
dedicated to Dawsonville native, Bill Elliott.
