AMA DRAGBIKE returned to Atlanta Dragway for the 19th Annual MTC Elmer Trett Nationals, the second stop in the eight-race motorcycle drag racing championship series. The top motorcycle drag racers in the country battled it out for the coveted AMA Dragbike #1 plate. Competition was held in four professional classes (Top Fuel, Funnybike, Pro Mod, Pro Street) two semi-pro classes (SuperSport and Real Street) and five sportsman classes (Top Gas, Super Comp, Street Fighter Pro ET, Street ET). Saturday night featured an all-motorcycle Grudge Racing session. The MTC Elmer Trett Nationals is named in honor of Elmer Trett, considered to be the father of the modern Top Fuel bike. Trett lost his life in a racing accident in Indianapolis in 1996 while trying to eclipse the elusive 5-second barrier which has since been broken by Larry McBride. Trett still holds the 1/8 mile speed record of 190.43 mph. For results from the 19th Annual MTC Elmer Trett Nationals, visit www.amadragbike.com Photos by Brian O. Williams, MSA
