by Eric Prill
CECIL, Ga. -- The Tire Rack Dixie National Tour wrapped up March 15, officially kicking off the 2009 Tire RackŪ SCCA Solo National Tour.
The Dixie Tour was blessed with the luck of the Irish a day early as the rain pounded South Georgia Motorsports Park Friday evening, but stayed clear of the event the remainder of the weekend. Soloists were more than grateful for the dry weather, so they could attack the Robert Lewis-designed course with full gusto. So popular was the layout, one veteran driver even commented that it was the best pair of courses he'd run in more than 30 years of competition. Read more >>>

IRL Testing Continues at Barber Motorsports Park
By Dave Lewandowski
indycar.com

With roughly 740 acres constituting Barber Motorsports Park, there's plenty of room to roam. Just beware of giant arachnids, dragon flies and the 30-foot spider. Whimsical metal sculptures dot the manicured grounds of the 2.38-mile circuit, which is playing host to two days of IndyCar Series testing. The facility is a motorsports version of a TPC course -- hillside stadium seating overlooks the straights and a few of the corners. It's in one of these bowls (Turns 7-8 of the 16-turn course) where three ants have preyed on a motorcycle (for iron), its driver (for calcium maybe) and a bottle of Coca-Cola (everything goes better with the IndyCar Series sponsor).
