Lanier
National Speedway Revamps 2010 Racing Divisions
Officials with
Lanier National Speedway announced they have made a unanimous decision
to revamp the 2010 racing divisions. Local street stock and open
wheel modified divisions will not return to the 2010 LNS NASCAR
Weekly schedule, but will be making several appearances to the 3/8th’s
mile asphalt oval during the year.

Defending Kobalt
Tools 500 champion Kurt Busch appeared at The Varsity on
Wednesday, February 17th to assist Atlanta Motor Speedway in promoting
the upcoming 2010 edition of the Kobalt Tools 500.
Busch, the 2004
NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion and a two-time winner at AMS,
met with fans and media after touring the famous Atlanta landmark
known as, "The World's largest Drive-in Restaurant."

McMurray won the 52nd annual NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Daytona 500
but it took three green, white, checkered flag attempts and an unbelievable
shove from the sport's most popular driver, Dale Earnhardt, Jr.,
to pull the curtain down on one of the most exciting 500's in the
sport's history.

Patrick To Make NASCAR Debut at Daytona

in Saturday's Nationwide Series event
MOORESVILLE,
N.C. (Feb. 8, 2010) Danica Patrick will make her NASCAR Nationwide
Series debut in the No. 7 GoDaddy.com Chevrolet this Saturday at
Daytona International Speedway, JR Motorsports general manager Kelley
Earnhardt announced today. Patrick,
Earnhardt, and team officials convened Sunday following the Automobile
Racing Club of America (ARCA) event at Daytona, in which Patrick
raced to a sixth-place finish in her stock-car debut. The decision
for Patrick to compete in the Daytona Nationwide Series event is
supported by sponsor GoDaddy.com and JRM co-owners Dale Earnhardt
Jr., Tony Eury Jr., and Rick Hendrick.

Harvick
Wins Back-To-Back Budweiser Shootout In Exciting Finish
DAYTONA BEACH,
FLA. - The Budweiser Shootout has the proper name.... a Shootout....
anybody's race.... A no-holds-barred, fistfight with stock cars.....
NASCAR stock cars. Whoowee.... What a race! And what a finish. After
a caution fell with just six laps remaining, the second of the race
for Michael Waltrip, who was turned sideways by Ryan Newman, the
stage was set for a spectacular finish and America's best professional
race drivers didn't disappoint a huge crowd. Kevin Harvick, sidelined
with the flu for a week leading up to Saturday night's race at Daytona
International Speedway, won the race, taking the lead with just
two laps remaining.

NHRA
to Race Four Wide at zMax

The National
Hot Rod Association announced Thursday that for the first time in
the series’ history, the NHRA’s top four divisions will compete
four-wide in qualifying and elimination rounds during the 2010 Four-Wide
Nationals at zMax Dragway on March 25-28. Drivers
in the NHRA Top Fuel, Funny Car, Pro Stock and Pro Stock Motorcycle
will qualify and race four wide, with the top two drivers from each
elimination round advancing to the next round.

Tire Test Concludes at Atlanta Motor Speedway

HAMPTON, Ga.
The second day of Goodyear tire testing at Atlanta Motor Speedway
concluded with NASCAR Sprint Cup drivers feeling confident the two-day
test will result in an improved tire for the upcoming Kobalt Tools
500 on March 7.
Four NASCAR
drivers Carl Edwards, Sam Hornish, Jr., Mark Martin and Martin Truex,
Jr. assisted the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. with tire testing
at Atlanta Motor Speedway and their shared sentiment provided high
praise for Goodyears efforts to provide a quality tire compound

until I went to The Battle of Atlanta and watched the pros show
their talents at the event in Social Circle, GA.
January 3, 2010
was a nice 17 degrees for the start of the eight hour endurance
dirt bike race. Civil War re-enacters shot muskets to begin each
class.
